Northern Michigan is picking up current this week for the 67th Annual AuSable River Canoe Marathon. The tradition brings thousands of tourists every year to enjoy the riverside’s unique beauty and raw competition. The marathon runs from Grayling to Oscoda and includes sights of Consumers Energy’s hydroelectric dams—a hotspot for recreational activity like canoe racing.

Consumers Energy is pleased to be the Title Sponsor for the Marathon’s $5,000 Da$h for Ca$h, which took place Tuesday. Event details include:

  • 64-teams
  • Bracket-style competition with single elimination rounds
  • Quarter-mile sprints until a champion is crowned

Athletes fought hard to be part of the $5,000 pool, but only two took the canoe sprinting to win top honors.
