Credits for Residential Customers May Provide Savings

Some of the people in your community may not be aware that they are eligible for bill credits that can help them save on their energy bill. Below is an overview of these credits for our natural gas and electric customers. To apply for a credit, customers should call 800-477-5050.

Natural Gas Credits

Qualifying natural gas customers may save up to $126 on their annual gas bill with the Income Assistance Provision.

Natural Gas Income Assistance ($10.50 monthly credit): You may qualify for this provision if you have received a Michigan Home Heating Credit (HHC) or your total household income does not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty level. Consumers Energy automatically will qualify gas customers for the income assistance provision upon notification of a customer’s eligibility from a qualifying agency. The customer will be responsible for providing documentation every year to stay enrolled for the income assistance provision.
