Help Wanted: Gas Pipeline Workers in Michigan

Consumers Energy is hiring gas pipeline workers.

If you have a friend on the hunt for a job, the best place to look might be Consumers Energy.

The company is looking to fill 144 additional positions for natural gas pipeline replacement and construction work, mostly in the Saginaw, Flint and metro Detroit areas.

Consumers Energy is investing in the state’s economy and helping give back to Michigan communities by adding employees, said Vice President of Energy Operations Michele Kirkland.

“Since our workload has doubled in these areas and around the state, it was necessary to hire additional employees who will double our workforce,” said Kirkland.

The company has already hired 150 employees in the same field this year, and Consumers Energy will invest between $60 million and $65 million in gas distribution and construction work statewide this year. The amount is expected to grow to $116 million next year.

Interested candidates can apply at www.ConsumersEnergy.com/careers. Create a candidate profile and apply to the Gas Lines Construction requisition. Are these permanent full time jobs? What is the expectation on the length of time these jobs will last?

Like

These are seasonal jobs where the expected “season” is annually 9-10 months. They carry benefits equivalent to those offered to employees who work year-round. Checking on the expected length of time these jobs will last. Thank you.

The job will be posted until the middle of August and reads “Gas Lines Construction Equipment Operator”. It appears on the company’s website at http://www.ConsumersEnergy.com under the “careers” tab. The candidate may have to scroll down the list of jobs to find it, but it is there.
